Near surface mounting (NSM)

Infrastructures

(Carbon reinforcement)

Many road infrastructures built about half a century ago, and more particularly during the highway networks expansion that took place in North America in the 1950’s, are today showing signs of wear and tear as a result of an unanticipated increase of vehicular flow as well as overestimated shear resistance properties of concrete.

Among the signs related to these bridge ''burnouts'', diagonal cracking has been often observed on reinforced concrete girders. In order to extend the service life of the affected structures, the rehabilitation has proven to be an economically suited alternative, especially when compared to a complete replacement.

With the product V•ROD of Pultrall...

Amidst the newly developed technologies to overcome this situation, the near surface installation of carbon based concrete reinforcement bars is an emerging one. In fact, the combination of an unquestionable corrosion resistance and a high strength-to-weight ratio have made of this solution a premium choice and one relatively simple to implement. In this case, as well as many others, V•ROD then offers you the ideal solution at a more than competitive cost.
