Aluminum smelters

In a completely different area and facing totally distinct issues, aluminum smelters are subjected to an overheating of the steel concrete reinforcement in the pot room slabs, which in turn damages the concrete.

Factually, the high voltages used in the alumina transformation process and the closed loops/coils created by the reinforcement pattern in the slab cause, by induction, significant losses in energy and ultimately make of that steel a heating element. This heat build-up, which can reach a few hundred Celsius degrees, triggers an important expansion of the steel and leads to concrete cracking by weakening the link between itself and the reinforcement.

V•ROD being an electromagnetically neutral solution, it will not be influenced whatsoever by the magnetic fields associated with these processes and will therefore avoid having to use stainless steel or grounding all the regular steel rebar grid.
